I'm in Art for Progress' Clash of the Artists 2011. Between now and March 31st, the online community can pick one artist in each section that is their favorite. The top ten artists from the online voting are reviewed by a panel of judges, and the top three get their artwork featured in New York. So vote for me! My work is in the Visual Artist category.
One of my newer paintings, Mimicry, is in the New Rochelle Council on the Arts Juried Exhibition this year. The show is in the New Rochelle Public Library in New Rochelle, NY. The show runs from March 1 until the 31, with a reception on this Sunday, March 6th, from 5:15 until 7.
Simultaneous Systems II made the top 100 in the 2011 Paintings and Drawings International, which is an online exhibit. You can get to the show here. The show had 567 entries from 11 countries, so the top 100 is a little better than the top 20%. They also have a book of the exhibition for sale there.
Two of my pieces, Analogous and Aggregate I, were accepted to the Rhythmic Sensation - Visual Sensation exhibit at Still Point Art Gallery online. You can view the show here.
RHYTHMIC SENSATION-VISUAL SENSATION Rhythm is all around us - in music, in poetry, in patterns of speech, in architecture, in nature. Rhythm is within us - our hearts beat, our lungs take air in and let air out, our running feet hit the ground in a set pattern. This exhibition explores the ways that rhythm is part of visual art...the rhythm that is created by pattern, repetition, and movement...and formed by line, color, shape, and texture. Artists were invited to submit compositions that use these elements to create rhythm, giving the viewer the opportunity to experience rhythmic sensation and visual sensation. The awards ceremony and reception for Figuratively Speaking is on November 6th from 5:30 to 8:00. Stop by after work and join us!
Potential was accepted for EYA's Figuratively Speaking exhibition. The show runs from November 6 through the 22 at the Village Gallery in Montgomery, Alabama. There will be an opening reception on the 6th from 5:30 to 9 in the evening. You can see the entire list of accepted artists on their Facebook page, found here. In other EYA news, our group exhibition opens tomorrow night, October 19th. The reception runs from 6:30 to 8:30 at the Anita P. Folmar Gallery, also in Montgomery.
My piece, Simultaneous Systems II, has been accepted into Soft Canvas' Modern Abstraction online show. To see the whole show, click here.
I currently have a show up in Cincinnati called The Open Road. The show includes works from Ben Clark, a ceramics artist from the Cincinnati area, and myself. The show runs through October 29. It's at UC Clermont's Park National Bank Art Gallery in Batavia, Ohio.
